James first day back on the job in the FBI. It was... surreal. More than. First, he was aware he was still undercover but it didn't bear the weight it had over the last few months. This sort of thing was a piece of piss for him. The work had never been the problem; it had been trying to convince himself he was okay without his family. It had been impossible.

But now he was back and it was like putting on an old pair of slippers... only someone else's slippers. Everyone had been stunned when he walked into the conference room after Pierce telling the department he had a 'surprise' for them. One chick even ran out to throw up, and James just figured it was a bit drama queen-esque considering he hardly knew her. The guise he was back, but amnesiac was easy to pull off. It was about acting, but sooner or later the dust would settle and no one would even think about it. Everyone still called him 'Campbell', even though he kept correcting them that it wasn't his name. It was going to take some time to sink in. Some tried to nudge some information out of him, but he had the blank look down by now.

Only thing was, he needed some time to adjust himself and by the time the afternoon came, he was escaping up to the roof for a smoke. This was like coming home. The familiar rooftops, the familiar breeze on his face all this way up above the city. He took a long drag on the cigarette and closed his eyes, tilting his face up to the sky as he blew the smoke out. It was going to be okay.

"Nice of you to invite me up," Izzy said as she neared him. She was being sarcastic, the Australian bastard not even mentioning to her that he was disappearing for a smoke. Still, even after months apart Isabel still had radar for when he was lighting up. Plus it had to be that time, she was feeling under pressure herself, even if she'd back in the office for a few weeks.

It was just getting harder to keep the lies up, even though she needed to lie for James' sake. She came up beside him, and rest her chin on his shoulder, on of the benefits of being close to his height. "So, what's it like to be back, Fraser?"

It was also a conscious effort for Izzy to call him that, taking a lot of her energy. Truth was she missed calling him Campbell, and sometimes she just didn't call him anything. Ever since she'd found out he was alive she'd been confused about what to call him.

James pointed to his head with a smirk. "Sorry, amnesia," he sniggered. He caught the slip over his name. "Strange. Like having a wedgie you can't dig out in public. It'll ease sooner or later. I'm amused at everyone 'dead face'. You know, the looks they are giving me when they think I can't see them? Like they've seen a ghost."

He gestured to her with the smoke. "It'll get easier to not calling me Campbell soon. I can guarantee that."

"I dare you to use that as an answer to every question for the rest of the day," Iz said with a grin. "Thank you for that very imaginative descriptive. I'm now going to spend the rest of the day thinking about public wedgies. You should just walk up behind them and start whispering scary stuff into their ear."

Izzy pulled a face as she stepped away to look over the cityscape sprawling out before them. "It's easier to type than say. Old habits, and all that."

James held his hand out. "You're on. If anyone asks me where the bathroom is, I'm screwed, but it would be so worth it to see their face," he said deviously and then laughed. "You're such a bitch. I want them to think I lost my memory, not my marbles."

"Someone else is going to take the label," he told her with a small laugh.

Iz shook his hand as she took his cigarette with the other, letting it rest between her lips. "Game on, loser. If you last the whole day you can pick the prize. Miss one opportunity, and tomorrow you do the coffee, lunch, and tea run." Izzy tried to look as innocent as possible while she batted her lashes. "Who me? How could you call me a bitch! I'm an angel."

She frowned a little as she took a drag, the smoke curling out of her mouth as she exhaled. "Who?"

"Can't. Amnesia. Don't remember where Starbucks is," James threw back without missing a beat, batting his own eyelashes at her. "Angel of Arse, maybe."

He pulled the ultrasound photo out of his pocket and help it up in front of her face.

Izzy flipped him off, and stuck the cigarette back between her lips, letting it dangle from her mouth as she spoke. "I'm sure you haven't lost your brains. You can just go out into the streets and find it again. Or at least somewhere else with coffee." She turned slightly and smacked her ass. "Don't pretend like you still don't love me in this skirt."

Izzy's eyes widened as she looked at the photograph, a huge smile curving her lips. She was over any feelings of jealously that had been there before. Now she was just happy for James and Harri. "Oh my god! Is it a boy? He sort of looks like what Fi's son looked like as a blob. Only his dick was attached to his forehead, no joke. He was all curled into this tight ball. So you're calling him Campbell?"

James made a kissy face at her and reached over to steal the smoke back off her, putting it to his lips. "I deny all accusations and counter-sue for you still wanting my cock in these pants."

"Now that's just wrong," he snorted, tilting his head as he looked at the photo. "You call him Kermit and I'll belt you. I think my son has the chilled cool uterus reclined thing going on, don't you think? At least he wasn't mooning the screen like Jamie." He nodded, a smile dancing on his lips again. "Yeah, we thought it was fitting."

"That's between me and the copy room," Iz smirked as she winked at him.

"He's a Campbell male, of course he's going to show the world what he has already." Izzy looked at him, her eyebrows raised a little. "Jamie was only Kermit because it sounded better than Sprog. It's good to see you smiling about him, James. I was waiting for the proud father to kick in. How's Harri?"

James laughed but then he looked at her when something caught in his gut about the whole scenario. The flirting was easy. Just the realisation that was all it was going to be was going to take some getting used to. "I bet that thing really missed my arse."

"We can thank Sunshine for that. Amazing what some baby drool will do to a bloke. I don't know what it was. Some penny just dropped in my head. Things are looking up. I'm still as scared as all fuck, but it feels like it's getting easier. I mean, if Ali can do it, I can, right?" He nodded, wetting his lips. "Yeah, she's doing good."

Isabel nodded, trying to keep the smile on her face. There was a sadness tinging it though, as she remembered the fact that at some stage, they still had to work out what to do about their marriage. "I think it's been pining. It doesn't quite work the same."

"You really like being an uncle, don't you? Imagine what it'll be like to be covered in drool you helped create. I'm glad this worked out. I'm glad you got your family back, and you get a chance to be a part of your own family." She came back over to him, and slid her arms around him in a hug. "You can do it, Fraser. I have faith in you. I don't think Harri would let you fuck it up and leave her holding a baby anyway."

James leaned forward on the railing, stretching the muscles out in his back. "Are we talking about the photocopier or Pierce. I thought he was going to kiss me when I walked in. He didn't think I was going to rock up. Of course, if I didn't, he would have come around and inserted the photocopier in interesting places."

He nodded, smiling. "I do. And I like seeing Ali happy. I thought I fucked things up for her. Seems she's getting fucked up in her own whole interesting way and does not need my help with it at all," he laughed. "Yeah, I dunno, I was pretty fucked up. It was touch and go. I'll be honest, I wanted to run and hide again. It took a lot of deep soul searching to stick around. Nothing to do with anyone, it was just that mental block kicking in again."

"Or he might have slammed your cock in the lid, and you'd have all new dick issues to deal with," Iz pointed out. "I think he's just glad that you're not really dead. We all struggled with it, at least the ones that really care. That drama queen showing off this morning was just a bitch. I'm working on getting her back."

"I thought I had, too. I really regret what happened after you... you know. I wish I had thought more about Ali and the baby." Izzy reached up to ruffle his hair. "You and that mental block... Sometimes I still want to punch some sense into you."

"What dick issues?" James returned in amusement and watched the end of the cigarette burn down a little before flicking the ash over the edge of the railing. "I did offer to vomit on her in return. She wasn't impressed. Then she burst into tears and said 'I understand'. I really think she thinks 'amnesia' means 'lost my mind'. Is she bloody Tiffani's replacement or something? Didn't she used to be in the mail department?"

He nodded. "It's okay. She's got her paramedic. He knows how to take care of her... maybe even better than we do. That's huge." He flipped her off. "I have issues. I'm special," he joked, even if it was only half joking in essence. "We just all need to get back on the same page."

"Ah, so you fixed them?" Izzy's nose crinkled in distaste and she glared at a building in the distance. "Looks like it. Inflaterella isn't around anymore. Not since I've been back. Wonder if she did Pierce to get the job. I swear, he knows how to find the good agents, but the decent secretaries? He just goes with his dick, and I don't think much of his taste anymore."

"I know, right? I couldn't believe it when she told me they were engaged. Still, I can't imagine anyone better for Ali. Andrew really knows how to make her feel good." Iz tilted her head. "And what is the same page?"

"Of sorts." James shook his head. "Pierce has better taste than that. He likes chicks with attitude. This chick doesn't even have enough brain cells. I think he hires them so we do all our own work."

He pressed his lips together and started to laugh. "Oh fuck, he sure does that! He fucked her into the picnic table and it collapsed. She broke her arm! She's quite proud of the fact. That is the genes my beautiful innocent niece has," he said with a shake of his head. "I'm not sure. Hopefully somewhere we can laugh and put the shit behind us."

"He could still give us a secretary that knows what she's doing, and can just say 'no'. If she's smart, she wouldn't do everything we asked."

Izzy's green eyes went wide as she stared at him. "Andrew did what?! How come Ali hasn't called me up bragging about it? Your old picnic table? Wow... guess they really knew how to make use of it." Iz couldn't help but think about that kiss she and James had shared, maybe they would have broken the picnic table if Mark hadn't interrupted. She shrugged off the memory, and tucked her hair behind her ear. "I'm sure we will."

"Pfft. I don't want a secretary doing my shit. Need I remind you what that temp did to the Horton file? It was a freaking disaster! I might be supposed to have a broken brain, but I can still do my own work."

He tilted his head. "Maybe she thinks you're busy? Or not in the city? She was all smug and braggy when I took Sunshine home. Andrew wanted to take Ali out on a date, only I have no idea how that turned into The Great Picnic Table Crash of 2009. She got a cast and all. I was jealous," he laughed.
